Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
